Besides demonstrating that natural selection orients evolution at both the molecular and organismal levels and highlighting the nature of allozyme polymorphisms in nature, Nevo has described new biological species on the basis of molecular biology including mole crickets
(subterranean insects) in Israel, frogs in the USA and the Middle East, particularly Israel, and rodent species living above- and underground in Israel, Turkey, and northern, eastern, and southern Africa. In collaboration with other scientists in Israel and Ukraine, Nevo discovered many new species of algae and fungi in Israel.
