Genetic Research in Amazonian Flood Forests (1992 – 1994)

The study of the genetic structure and divergence of plants and animals in the Amazonian flooded rainforest was conducted from 1993 to 1995 in collaboration with the late Professor W.D. Hamilton of Oxford University, UK. The goals were to unravel the genetic basis of
adaptation and speciation of certain plant species including the rubber tree and wild rice. The research yielded interesting preliminary results but was terminated due to lack of funds.
