Chernobyl Project: Revealing Genetic Mutations in Victims

This research project was started to detect radiation-induced genetic changes in Jewish immigrants to Israel, a total of 300,000 people from the Chernobyl disaster area. Genetic research was conducted primarily on liquidators and their families. Families with children born before and after the atomic disaster were tested, detecting de novo changes caused
by radiation and transferred to the offspring via the germline.
